Meet Stella

Working with children is my life especially supporting them to develop and grow. And I ensure every moment of their time with me is meaningful.

And as a firm believer in children that they can strive and achieve by learning through play, I offer a warm, safe, secure and stimulating learning environment by providing a wide range of resources and equipment for both indoor and outdoor play; that meet the child’s individual needs and interest. 

I follow the requirement set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for Children. And I closely work in partnership with parents. I am a member of Professional Association of Childcare and Early Years (PACEY) and have a Public Liability Insurance. Ofsted Registered.

Pedagogy

At Starlightkids, the learning and development of the children are supported by following the Statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 1 September 2021 and other Non-Statutory Documents recommend by Ofsted and the Department For Education for early Years. The Childminder is a responsive listener, partner and  facilitate meaning-making using the following approaches in supporting the children’s needs, learning and development:

  • Child-centred approach at their own pace with a personalised support.

  • The children are viewed  as competent individuals who have their individual capabilities and learning styles.

  • The children are given space, time and empowered to learn, make decisions and choices about what they want to play with while their are in the setting. 

  • They are empowered and given room to express their own ideas and views.

  • A responsive and inclusive pedagogy of listening (Mosaic approach) to their voices (multimodal form of communication)  which are tuned into by the childminder to capture their  learning interests.

  • Observations of children’s captured interest and learning needs and ideas are used to plan their next steps.

  • Daily routines and adult-led activities are embedded in the children’s play experiences. 

  • The children are supported to be active participants,  learn, develop and become independent, confidence and achieve their self-help skills as they prepare to reach school going age.

  • School readiness is also embedded in the daily routines of the children’s stay in the setting.
